What to wear - and how to recognise everybody else

Hunt Servants

Black riding hat with bow at back. Scarlet coat with yellow collar and brasss PF&CH buttons, five at front. White hunting stock with pin facing north-south. White hunting breeches. Black boots with London Tan tops and white garter straps with spurs. White hunting whip. White gloves.

Masters

As Hunt Servants, but with stock pin facing east-west. White gloves. Normal hunting whip.

Lady Masters

Black riding hat with bow at back. Black hunt coat with blue collar and brass PF&CH buttons, five at front. White hunting stock with pin east-west. Beige hunting breeches. Plain black boots and black garter straps with spurs. Normal ladies' hunting whip. White gloves.

Members

Top hat, bowler hat or green riding hat with bow tails sewn up. Black hunting jacket with plain black buttons, three at front (or by Masters invitation only black PF&CH buttons). White hunting stock with pin east-west. Beige hunting breeches. Plain black boots and black garter straps with spurs. Yellow or white gloves.

OR - by Masters Invitation only:

Top hat or green riding hat with bow tails sewn up. Scarlet coat with yellow collar and brass PF&CH buttons, three at front. White hunting stock with pin east-west. White hunting breeches. Black boots with mahogany tops and black garter straps with spurs. Normal hunting whip. White gloves.

Lady Members

Bowler hat or black riding hat with bow tails sewn up. Black hunting jacket with plain black buttons, three at front (or by Masters Invitation only black PF&CH buttons and blue collar). White hunting stock with pin east-west. Beige hunting breeches. Plain black boots and black garter straps with spurs. Normal ladies' hunting whip. Yellow or white gloves.
Lady members may also hunt side sadle in a black or navy habit. A black bowler hat and veil (or top hat and veil for married ladies) may be worn. Normal ladies' hunting whip or cane. Cream or brown gloves.

Hunting Farmers

Black riding hat with bow tails sewn up. Black hunt coat with plain black buttons, three at front. White hunting stock with pin east-west. Beige hunting breeches. Plain black boots and black garter straps with spurs. Normal hunting whip. Yellow or white gloves.

OR

Rat catcher attire (see visitor and pony club member)

Honorary Secretary

This hard working, down trodden, timid and unfortunate individual normally wears a scarlet coat with leather money bag over his shoulder. Easily recognisable by the permanent worried expression on his face, looks older than his years and is generally abused by both masters and members.

Visitor (from other hunt)

Their usual hunting uniform

Visitor (not member of other hunt) and Pony Club Member

Riding hat (any sensible colour) with bow tails sewn up or bowler hat. Hacking jacket or show type jacket. Tie or stock of any colour with pin east-west. Beige or brown hunting breeches preferred. Black or brown riding boots or jodhpur boots with or without spurs. Hunting whip or riding whip. Any sensible gloves. This is traditionally known as "Rat Catcher" attire.
Riding hats are acceptable in colours as above. All headwear should conform to the current minimum safety standards.

Would lady riders please note: a hair net should be worn at all times when hunting, and, for your own safety, earrings must not be worn on the hunting field.
